Pattern Materia used in metal casting

Patterns may be built from different materials. Each material has its own advantages, limitations, and scope. Some materials used for making patterns: wood, metals and alloys, plastic, plaster of Paris, plastic and rubber, wax and resins. To be suitable for use, should the material pattern to be:

1. easily worked, molded and joined

2. Light weight

3. Strong, durable

4. hard and resistant to wear and abrasion

5. Resistant to corrosion, and chemical reactions

6. dimensionally stable and unaffected by changes in temperature and humidity

7. Available at low cost

- are the usual pattern materials wood, metal, and plastic. The pattern material most commonly used wood, since it is readily available and low weight. Also, it can be shaped easily and is relatively cheap.

- The main disadvantage of wood to absorb the moisture, which can cause distortion and dimensional changes.

- Araldite is a new material for making pattern, which is a reference to a range of engineering and structural epoxy, acrylic, and polyurethane adhesives.

The Module Procedure of Sand Casting Metal

Exercise may be a reflection, alone, or in groups. If used in the production of several pieces of cast metal, including examples of pre-cut should be used and students are encouraged to participate by visual inspection of the samples to the differences and imperfections determine, along with projections for how would that affect material properties defects. The no overall make up, concepts and fundamental analysis are discussed in more detail in a PowerPoint presentation.

1.Display series of samples cast on a hard surface and discuss the importance of casting sand and the various factors involved.

2. Display similar examples were pre-cut. Ask students if they can find any flaws in the sample (s) and if they can predict if the material defects internally and how they would go about finding out. Discuss hardness materials inorder to expand the concept. (Would the hardness of materials on this website module mated a great addition to help in teaching this concept.)

3. Show a PowerPoint presentation and discuss each slide.

a. Slide 1-2: Start sand casting (key)

b. Slide 3-9: Typical equipment and supplies

c. Slide 10-12: Experimental Set-up

d. Slide 13: Parts sand cast

e. External and Internal Flaws: Slide14

f. Slide 15: Safety Guidelines and importance of safety

g. Slide 16-18: Questions, recap, the basic terms

4. If a rally used to be sure to show the students examples of materials consumed sand. If identical samples available, ask students if they mention any differences and make predictions of the internal voids are present. To get samples or cut in half, or in sections to prepare. Show will half / sectioned sample pieces for the students as to allow them to see that sometimes imperfections in materials that do not appear on the surface. If lab, have students (individually or in groups) to up their models using the same model for all equipment mold.If provide complete laboratory experiment can be carried out through the steps provided.

The Mold Preparation of Sand Metal Casting

1.Preparation the green sand: Sift the silica with fine metal mesh and blend with Bentonite clay in a large container. The mixture should be moist to the touch. Wetness test handful grabbing and squeezing the mixture. If water is that it is too wet and more silica should be added. If it crumbles so it is too dry and more clay should be added. The green sand is ready to use when you can squeeze and no water is visible and it can retain its shape without falling apart. Once it’s ready to run top of the container to seal it and prevent it from drying out.

2. Add the draw, the bottom part of the flask, on a hard surface.

3. Enter the middle model the drag and layout of the runners so that touches your model. Should be the model and secondly lay flat and be at least 1 inch from each side of the edge of the drag on. Sprinkle on powder separation. This makes it easier to remove after the green sand packed.

4. Lightly sprinkle the green sand mixture into the covering slowly pull the model and runner. Once completely covered the edges package using the rammer and then the top until completely compacted sand.

5. Carefully flip the pull in his side and tie up the deal. Spread more parting compound onto the surface.

6. Place the riser and pouring cup flask and green sand lightly spread into it.

7. When the sand completely covered the surface to remove the rammer to pack the sand again.

8. When the sand is compacted safely open the flask and carefully remove the tackle.

9. Remove the cup and riser pieces pouring out of the deal as well as the model system, runner and gating off the draw. Take care to remove everything carefully to ensure that you do not disturb the mold.

10. Use fine pain brush to remove any sand particles that have fallen into the molded areas. Gas vents can be placed using a very small file on the deal if necessary.

11. Attach the two pieces of the flask together. Your model is ready for use. Keep it covered while you are preparing the molten metal.

Mobile Metal Casting Web

Mobile metal casting web was established in 2014, which is a professional metal casting information website. It offers the local people localized Internet information service. For the strangers, it opens a window to know more about metal casting.

Through professional Angle of view, mobile metal casting webprovides the majority of mobile Internet users the real and effectivemetal casting product information, transaction information, enterprise information, etc. Through the column content Settings, it uses intuitive, convenient way to enhance brand awareness, promote the exchange of information between industries.

Mobile metal casting web builds an industry information portal in 24-hour operation. It conveys users the information timely and accurately. With the aid of high-speed mobile Internet development opportunity and the user’s resource advantages, it actively contributesto the construction of the website and further deepening the industry information delivering results.

As a transfer of resources, mobile metal casting web plays a role of platform, relying on domestic scientific research institutions and the metal casting association, surrounding the industry exhibition forresource integration, going through intensively propaganda and promotion to provide the small and medium-sized metal foundry enterprises a product display offline channel. Mobile metal casting webcollects a large number of local metal casting information, thoroughly implementing the regionalization of search results.
